Four people were killed and 11 others injured in separate road accidents in Gopalganj, Comilla and Sherpur yesterday. A Gopalganj correspondent reports: Hundreds of people blocked the Dhaka-Khulna highway at Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj following two road accidents that killed one person and injured one yesterday. Police said locals withdrew the hour-long barricade around 1:00pm after they were assured of constructing a speed breaker on the road right away. Police said Shaheb Ali, 25, of Comilla, was killed after a speedy vehicle knocked him down around 2:30am at College Intersection at Chandiboddi. Besides, one Shukuron Nessa, 38, was injured critically after she was struck by a microbus at the same place at about 11:30am. She was admitted to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex. Angered by the accidents, locals put barricade on the spot around 12:00pm. UNB adds: Two people were killed and 10 others wounded a in a collision between a Comilla-bound microbus and a covered van at Barpara of Daudkandi upazila in Comilla yesterday. The deceased were identified as microbus driver Russel, and passenger Tofail Ahmed, both residents of Daudkandi upazila. The injured were admitted to local Gouripur hospital. Meanwhile, a banker, riding a motorbike, was killed when a Sherpur town-bound speedy truck knocked him down on his way to Jamalpur town on Sherpur-Jamalpur road at Nandir Bazar of Sadar upazila in Sherpur yesterday morning. The deceased is Nazrul Islam Azad, 45, manager of Janata Bank Bakshiganj Dhanua-Kamalpur branch and resident of Sajarbarkhila in Sherpur town. His body was sent to Sherpur Hospital morgue.
