Cop killed in road crash
A police inspector was killed in a road crash in front of APBN camp of Old Bus Station area in Rangamati yesterday.
The deceased is identified as Md Abdul Karim Sarker, an inspector (inquiry) of Kotwali Police Station of Rangamati, from Bhaddraghata of Brahmanbaria.
The accident took place at about 11:30am when a motorcycle from opposite direction collided head-on with Karim's motorcycle while he along with a police constable were going to New Court Building area riding the motorcycle for duty purpose, said Mokbul Hossain, ASI of Kotwali Police Station.
Karim was first rushed to the Rangamati General Hospital and later referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition. He died on the way to CMCH at about 2:30pm, he added.
Police seized the motorcycle but the motorcyclist fled the scene.
