8 CU Shibir men held
The eight activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir of Chittagong University (CU) unit, who were picked up from a dormitory on Monday night, were shown arrested and produced them yesterday before a Judicial Magistrate Court seeking a five-day remand.
The arrestees are Abdulla Al Mamun, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Md Kabir Hossain, Solaiman Moudud, Yasin Arafat, Aminul Islam, Atiqur Rahman and Delwar Hossain.
Police picked them up from Suhrawardy Hall during a raid after a clash between Shibir and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists. The clash erupted when the two groups locked in a quarrel over watching television at the dormitory.
