Police SI mugged of Tk 2 lakh
A gang of miscreants looted Tk 2 lakh from a policeman in the city's Taltola area yesterday.
The victim Liakat Ali, sub-inspector of Gowainghat Police Station, hailed from Debidwar upazila in Comilla.
Locals said Ali, when passing Taltola area in plain clothes on a rickshaw, was stopped by 8 miscreants on 4 motorbikes who mugged the money. They also stabbed Ali in the hand when he initially refused to give the cash.
Ali was admitted to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Filing of a case in this regard was on process, said Khondaker Naoroj Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sylhet Kotwali Police Station.
