Bio-security steps stressed to control bird flu
Avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, is of grave concern for the country's livestock as its morbidity and mortality rates are too high, it does not respond to any treatment, and no vaccination is effective against it, according to experts.
They emphasised taking immediate bio-security measures alongside reducing potential transmission by improving sanitary conditions in live bird markets, identifying and eliminating hidden sources of infection in commercial farms, and raising public awareness to control the fatal virus in Bangladesh.
