Domestic help dies in fall
The female domestic help, who allegedly fell from her employer's flat at Dhanmondi in the city, succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday.
Dhanmondi police quoting the security guard of the apartment said Papia Akhter, 18, joined as domestic help at the fourth floor of an apartment of one Zakir Hossain at Road No # 4 ten days ago.
The security guard of the apartment took Papia to DMCH around 8:00am where police detained him for interrogation. Later, the guard was released.
Subrata Kumar Roy, an assistant sub-inspector of Dhanmondi Police Station, said Zakir's wife Kazi Nargis Akhter filed an unnatural death case with the police station following the incident.
According to Nargis, Papia fell on the ground while she was trying to escape from the balcony of the flat around 4:15am. They rushed her to a private hospital from where she was shifted to DMCH, Subrata said.
Police recovered four scarves from the spot through which she was trying to climb down. Her body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
