Japanese volunteers in city

Nine Japanese overseas cooperation volunteers arrived in the city for a two-year voluntary work in different public organisations in Bangladesh. They will work in the field of infection control, rural community development, education, football and handball, says a press release yesterday. The new volunteers yesterday met the Japanese Ambassador Tamotsu Shinotsuka and apprised him what they would like to achieve during their assignment in Bangladesh. Since March 1973, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) has dispatched volunteers to Bangladesh in various fields, such as agriculture, rural development, forestry, fisheries, processing, maintenance, management, civil engineering, construction, health, hygiene, education, culture and sports.
