PM returns after attending UNGA
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home last night after attending the 66th UN General Assembly session in New York.
An Emirates flight, carrying the Prime Minister, landed at the Shahjalal International Airport at 8.07pm following a five-hour stopover in Dubai.
Cabinet members, PM's advisers, lawmakers, high civil and military officials received the PM at the airport.
The Prime Minister had left Dhaka on September 17.
Professionals, businesspeople, players, artistes, poets, teachers and city Awami League accorded a reception to the Prime Minister on her arrival at the VVIP lounge of the airport as she received the Global Health and Children's Award.
The PM addressed the UNGA on September 24 and unveiled her six-point model of peace.
During her 11-day stay in New York, the Prime Minister attended a reception hosted by First Lady Michele Obama on September 22, and held bilateral talks with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on September 23.
On September 19, the PM addressed a symposium on counterterrorism organised by the Secretary General. She also addressed a high-level meeting on prevention and control of non-communicable diseases at the General Assembly Hall.
She received the Global Health and Children's Award for her outstaying contribution to develop Bangladesh's health sector by using the Information Communication Technology (ICT) on September 20.
