Truck torched for injuring a housewife

Angry mob torched a mini truck after it hit a rickshaw leaving a housewife on board critically injured in the city's Dhanmondi area yesterday. The victim, Sadia Ansar, 40, of Jigatola, was admitted to a private city hospital with head and chest injuries following the incident. Meanwhile, a fire fighter unit put out the blaze within half an hour. Jahidur Rahman, sub-inspector of Dhanmondi Police Station, said the truck loaded with tannery goods was going to Shahjalal International Airport. On the way, it hit the rickshaw at Shankar around 2:30pm in which Sadia was taking her son to school, he said. The minor boy remained unhurt. Locals caught the truck and torched it. They also blocked Dhanmondi-Mohammadpur road for around 20 minutes, he said. Later, police arrested driver Monjur along with the truck, he added.
