Call to sign Teesta deal
Members of Nagarik Samaj, a platform for the civil society, yesterday urged the governments of both India and Bangladesh to resolve the important issues pending between the two countries for the betterment of its people.
Both the governments should sit together soon to sign agreements on transit and water sharing of Teesta River, as the issues were dropped during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Dhaka last month, they said.
They were addressing a seminar on 'Different Agreements between Bangladesh and India: What the Citizens are thinking' held in Dhaka Reporters Unity yesterday.
Nahid Roksana, executive chairman of the platform, journalist Amanullah Kabir and Manoj Kumar Mohapatra among others spoke at the event.
