Road crashes kill four

Four people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Thakurgaon and Satkhira on Tuesday and yesterday. Our Thakurgaon correspondent reports: Three people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in the district on Tuesday. In Sadar upazila, two motorcycle riders were killed when a Panchagarh-bound bus crashed a motorcycle coming from opposite direction on the Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway at Salsoli village in the upazila on Tuesday evening. The deceased were Shahar Ali, 40, son of Ishak Ali and Oliur Rahman, 55, son of late Koshiruddin, of Kochubari Milanipara village of the same upazila. Protesting the accident locals barricaded the road for an hour. Meanwhile, a cattle trader was killed on the spot and two others were injured when a cattle-laden nosimon, locally made three-wheeler, lost control and fell into a roadside ditch beside the Haripur-Ranishakoil road at Chowrangi Ranhatta village in Haripur upazila on Tuesday noon. The deceased was Azizul Haque, 32, son of Rejabul Haque, of Jibonpur village of the same upazila. The injured were admitted to Haripur Health Complex. Police sent the body to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital morgue and seized the vehicle. Our Satkhira correspondent says: An old man was killed when a motorcycle knocked him down while he was crossing the Satkhira-Khulna road near Patkelghata in Tala upazila yesterday. The deceased was Rahmat Ali Moral, 75, of village Chomorkhali in the upazila.
