Guideline for mass media in the offing: Dipu Moni

Foreign Minister Dipu Moni yesterday said the government is planning to prepare a policy guideline for mass media to uphold the highest level of professionalism of journalists. “We believe in freedom of the press but we expect objective news from the journalists,” she said while speaking at a function marking 12th publication anniversary of a local Bangla daily, the Chandpur Darpan. Channel i head of news Shykh Siraj spoke as the special guest while editor of the daily Ikram Chowdhury presided over the event at Chandpur Silpakala Academy. The foreign minister said the government is working hard for the overall development of the country. “All development works, committed by the government, will be completed during the current tenure,” she said. Dr Dipu Moni visited some river erosion affected areas at Haimchar and Chandpur upazilas. During her visit, she said the protection work along with the banks of Meghna river at Haimchar and Chandpur is progressing rapidly. “Erosion of the river Meghna here will be protected at any cost,” she said. The foreign minister also visited different Puja mandaps in the upazilas.
