3rd D-8 meet in city next yr

The third D-8 (Developing-Eight) ministerial meeting on industry will be held in Dhaka next year, Industries Minister Dilip Barua said yesterday. “I, on behalf of Bangladesh, proposed to arrange the next D-8 ministerial meeting in Dhaka and the proposal has been accepted,” the minister said over the phone from Istanbul. Ministers of Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Iran and Nigeria and ambassadors of Pakistan and Malaysia seconded the proposal on the concluding day of the second D-8 ministerial meeting at Istanbul in Turkey. D-8, a group of eight Muslim majority developing states including Bangladesh, was set up in 1997 to promote economic cooperation and solidarity among the eight states.
