Devotees bid farewell to Durga in port city
Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, ended yesterday with the immersion of idols throughout the port city.
As part of the celebrations of Bijoya Dashami, the Hindu devotees brought out many processions carrying the idols of Durga and her children Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartik and Ganesh.
Devotees immersed the idols at six points in the city at Patenga, South Kattoli, Gangabari, Avoymitra Ghat, Kalurghat and Parki, said Advocate Chandan Talukder, divisional organising secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad central committee.
More than 235 puja mondops were set up in Chittagong this year, he added.
