No poll under AL-led admin
Says BNP leader Moyeen
BNP will not allow the ruling Awami League government to hold election under its own administration, party Standing Committee Member Abdul Moyeen Khan said yesterday.
“No political or interim government will be accepted for holding of polls. Election must be held under a nonparty caretaker government,” he said addressing a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
It will be a “daydream” for the AL to stay in power by holding a “2008-style” election, he added.
Dhaka city unit of Jatiyatabadi Sangskritik Dal, a pro-BNP body, organised the programme protesting the “aggression” of India and Myanmar along the border.
Moyeen said the ruling party knows that its candidates will lose if the election is held under a nonparty caretaker government. “We didn't get the Teesta water, but the government has given corridor to India. Bangladesh does not have the right to see what the Indian trucks and containers carry,” he said criticising the government's “weak diplomacy”.
