'Bedes' add to JU aspirants' misery
Amidst the ongoing admission tests at Jahangirnagar University (JU), admission seekers, guardians and students face extortion from the 'bede' (snake charmers) community on the campus.
Some 5 bedes were yesterday seen taking money from the on-campus people by scaring them with snakes.
Despite being informed of the matter, the JU authorities did not take any step to stop this harassment, said students.
Nurul Islam, guardian of an aspirant from Pabna, said the bedes were harassing people by pulling their hands and bags to get money.
Ahmed Rafique, an admission seeker, said he got delayed in reaching the examination hall yesterday as he was subject to extortion by some bedes on the campus.
