Four alleged pirates arrested

Bangladesh Coast Guard (East Zone) members yesterday arrested four alleged pirates from the outer anchorage of the Bay of Bengal preparing to rob a foreign ship MV Bhatra Bhum. The arrestees Jashim, 38, son of Abdur Razzak; Mannan, 30, son of Abdul Khalek; Liton, 22, son of Abdul Jalil; and Nazim, 20, son of Shamsul Alam; are residents of Dobashi Bazar area under Anwara Police Station in Chittagong. The members on their patrol ship CGS Ruposhi Bangla also seized a home-made wooden boat, 23 empty jerry cans and two machetes from the men around 11:00am. A case was filed with Patenga Police Station in this connection.
