Death of BCL Activist
Autopsy says suicide
Autopsy revealed that Pronob Dasgupta Bablu, a Bangladesh Chhatra League activist of Dhaka University unit, committed suicide, said Dhaka Medical College morgue sources yesterday.
Police recovered Bablu's body from his Azimpur residence in the city on Saturday.
However, Bablu's stepbrother Prabir Kumar Das filed a murder case with Lalbagh Police Station on Saturday accusing five people.
The accused are Bablu's wife Farah Binte Rashid alias Arpa, her friend Trina Baroi and Trina's husband Utpal Kritania, Arpa's cousin Afsana Ferdaus and Bablu's friend Abdul Hakim Tanvir.
Detective Branch (DB) of police, investigating the case, took them on a three day remand after being granted from a Dhaka Court yesterday.
Sources in DB said they found no important information from the accused in preliminary interrogation.
Tanvir's friend Mohammad Monjur said Tanvir rushed to Bablu's residence on information as Tanvir and Bablu were intimate friends, both hailing from Laksham in Comilla.
Police requested the five to go to Shahbagh Police Station to provide information about Bablu. However, Bablu's political rivals compelled Prabir to file the murder case, said Monjur, quoting Tanvir.
