Five on fresh remand
On completion of a three-day remand, the five people sued and arrested over alleged killing of Pronob Dasgupta Bablu, an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League, were taken on remand for three more days yesterday.
Arrested are Bablu's wife Farah Binte Rashid alias Arpa, her friend Trina Baroi, Trina's husband Utpal Kritania, Arpa's cousin Afsana Ferdaus, and Bablu's friend Abdul Hakim Tanvir.
Inspector Fazlur Rahman of Detective Brach of Police, also investigator of the case, told this correspondent that it was not yet known whether Bablu committed suicide or was murdered.
Police recovered the hanging body of Bablu, a BCL worker of Dhaka University unit, from his Azimpur residence in the city on Saturday.
