A murder case was yesterday filed against at least 26 students of Chittagong Medical College (CMC), mostly leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), on charge of killing a dental student. The victim's maternal uncle Niyamat Ullah filed the case with Panchlaish Police Station, said its Sub-Inspector Ataur Rahman. The plaintiff lodged the case mentioning the names of 22 accused, he added. Among the accused are BCL leaders - CMC Student Union President Mafizur Rahman Zumman and its Assistant General Secretary Himel Chakma. Abidur Rahman, 22, a third year student of CMC, died Friday night giving in to the injuries allegedly inflicted by some BCL activists on Wednesday. The medical college was closed since Saturday following his death.
