President asks CAs

President Zillur Rahman yesterday urged the chartered accountants (CAs) to show utmost honesty and integrity alongside their professionalism in preparing the financial statements for government and corporate institutions. “Chartered accountancy is a responsible, professional job,” he said while inaugurating the 19th Convocation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city. Addressing the function, the president said the professional CAs and FCAs must always work to ensure transparency and accountability of the accounts, both in government and corporate institutions. ICAB organised the convocation where Vice Chancellor of North South University Dr Hafiz GA Siddiqi, was the convocation speaker. ICAB President Parveen Mahmud and Vice President M Abdus Salam also spoke on the occasion. Convocation Speaker Hafiz GA Siddiqi said the newly graduated chartered accountants will have to demonstrate their professional ethics and personal integrity while discharging their professional duties. A total of 232 graduates were awarded professional certificates at the convocation while 11 students (two FCA and 9 ACA) received certificates from the president for their outstanding performances. The 11 outstanding performers are: Suria Jannat Khan, Yesmin Hosna, M Jasim Uddin, M Kamrul Islam, Tapan Bala, Khairul Mobassarin, M Abdur Razzak, M Mahmub Hasan, Manik Kumer Sarker, Abdullah Al Mamun and M Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan.
