Crimes on sharp rise in Narsingdi
8 more killed, 141 other crimes occurred since Lokman murder
Law and order has been deteriorating fast in the district since the mayor of the town was killed on November 1.
Mayor Lokman Hossain, 42, was shot in the district Awami League office in the town on the night of Nov 1.
Since the sensational murder, another eight people were killed in the district and over 141 other serious criminal incidents happened in the district in 20 days till November 20 morning.
As police failed to trace and arrest the main killer or unearth the real motive of killing of the mayor, the authorities withdrew SP Akkas Hossain Bhuiyan and transferred two additional SPs--Enam Ahmed and Bijoy Boshak--on Nov 3.
But mere withdrawal of the police officers did not help improve law and order rather it declined sharply since the action was taken against the three top police officials.
Two other police officers, ASP (circle) Helal Uddin, was transferred to Noakhali and Narsingdi Model Police Station officer Anwar Hossain was transferred and closed to the Police Lines for failing to check declining law and order recently.
ASP Enayetur Rahman of DMP was made ASP (Circle) of Narsingdi and Inspector Asaduzzaman was made OC of Model Police Station and replacing the two punished police officials.
But, sources said the haphazard actions harmed morale of cops in the district as a transfer threat has been haunting police officials throughout the district.
Though the departmental actions have been kicked off against police officials eight more killing incidents occurred in the district.
