Punishment to Lokman's killers demanded

Several hundred students of Narsingdi district demanded immediate arrest of the killers of mayor Lokman Hossain and punishment to the culprits. Those students who study in the city's educational institutions, made the demand at a human chain at the base of Aparajeya Bangla of Dhaka University yesterday. Lokman, a gold medallist mayor, was shot by unidentified criminals inside the district Awami League office on November 1. He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Slain mayor's younger brother Shamim Newaz said, "At the begging of the killing, police were much active to arrest the killers but now they have been made inactive." In a rally at Sutapotti More in Narsingdi, noted citizens of Narsingdi also yesterday demanded arrest of the killers of Lokman and the masterminds of the sensational murder. They also demanded withdrawal of the names of the innocent people implicated in the case.
