Road crashes kill 3, injure two

Three people, including a boy, were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka and Thakurgaon yesterday. Staff correspondent reports: Two people were killed and two injured in separate road accidents at Mirpur and Paltan in the city yesterday. The deceased were Md Murad, 25, a rickshaw puller of Mirpur Section-12 and Ripon Bhuiyan, 18, an employee of a chicken selling shop at Uttar Badda. Murad was killed on the spot and his rickshaw passenger injured when a truck hit the rickshaw at Kalshi in Mirpur area. The injured passenger, Mohammad Shafiq, 50, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Ripon Bhuiyan was killed on the spot and an auto-rickshaw driver injured when a truck hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Purana Paltan intersection in the morning. Ripon was returning Badda after buying chicken from Kaptan Bazar, police said. Police sent the bodies to the medical college morgue for autopsy. Our Thakurgaon correspondent adds: A boy was crashed under the wheels of a potato-laden truck while the boy was riding his bicycle on Haripur-Dharmagarh road at Munnatoli village under Haripur upaizila yesterday. The deceased was Russel, 12, son of Rafiqul Islam, of Kashipur village of Baliadangi upazila. Local people caught the driver Masud Rana and helper Hasan Babu of the truck and handed them over to police.
