LDP to join BNP-led alliance after Dec 16
The main opposition BNP will include Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in the four-party alliance after the Victory Day.
The decision came last night at a meeting between BNP and LDP leaders at the BNP chairperson's Gulshan office in the capital. BNP Chief Khaleda Zia and LDP Chairman Col (retd) Oli Ahmed were present there.
“People want to oust this government. There is no alternative but to forge a movement against the Awami League-led government,” said Oli Ahmed after the meeting.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “The chairperson will make an announcement about the expansion of the four-party alliance after the Victory Day.”
“The decision will be finalised at meetings of the party's standing committee and the four-party alliance,” he added.
Later, Khaleda discussed the country's political situation with the representatives of several like-minded parties.
