BGB-BSF Meeting
Border killing protested
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) yesterday at a meeting at Shillong in India protested killing of Bangladeshi nationals along the boarder areas by Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
A BGB delegation also raised the issue of capture and abduction of Bangladeshi citizens illegally by BSF at the deputy director general (DDG) and inspector-general (IG) level meeting between BGB and BSF.
The four-day meeting is set to conclude on December 15, AKM Rezaul Karim, public relations officer of the paramilitary forces told The Daily Star.
The 12-member delegation of BGB was led by Brig Gen Abu Sayeed Khan, deputy-director general of BGB.
A senior BGB officer also told The Daily Star that at the meeting, the BGB will also raise the issue of Indian citizen's intrude in Bangladeshi part, drug trafficking specially phensidyl and liquor, women and child trafficking.
The delegation included sector commanders of Comilla, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Khagrachhari and Rangamati, staff officer of BGB headquarters and members of home and foreign ministries, said a BGB release.
RK Chowdhury, IG of Gouhati, is leading the seven member BSF delegation, said the release.
Earlier, a six-day director general (DG) level meeting between BGB and BSF began on September 25 at the BGB's Pilkhana headquarters in Dhaka.
