'Raise the challenged as skilled citizens'
Prof Dr Mohammad Alauddin, pro-vice chancellor of Chittagong University (CU) yesterday emphasised building up the persons with disabilities as the skilled citizens through proper training.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organised by Disabled Students Society of CU (DISSCU) at the university's Shaheed Minar premises marking the 20th International Day for the Disabled.
He said the persons with disabilities should not be considered as burden of society.
Non-Government Organisations (NGO) should come forward alongside the government to turn the disabled persons into skilled human resources, he added.
Presided over by DISSCU President Abdul Malek, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Prof M Shafiqul Alam, chairman of Philosophy Department of CU, Md Kamal Uddin, associate professor of International Relations Department and AGM Niaz Uddin, assistant professor of Political Science Department.
