Rajshahi agents abstain from distributing papers

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi
The four newspaper distributing agents in Rajshahi abstained from bringing newspapers from Dhaka yesterday protesting the alleged attacks on their employees by hawkers who are demanding higher commission and free copies. Journalists of different dailies held a meeting at Rajshahi Press Club last afternoon and called upon the agents and hawkers to resolve their disputes through discussions and stop depriving the readers. The four agents, present in the meeting, said they stopped bringing the newspapers amid concerns over the safety of their employees. On Wednesday, Minhaj Uddin Moon, an employee of Shanchita Newspaper Agency, was critically injured in an attack.
