Rajshahi mayor for getting united

Rajshahi city mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton at a discussion meeting in the city yesterday called upon people to get united for holding the trial of war criminals successfully. He said a section of people thwarted the trial for the last 40 years through terrorism and subversive activities adding that the same forces are now active dampening the government initiatives to try the criminals who committed mass killing, rape as well as arson during the War of Liberation in 1971. He said there is no alternative to resist the evil forces as they are creating a dangerous situation. Awami Lawyers' Council, the district unit organised the discussion on '40th Anniversary of the Victory and Trial of War Criminals' at the auditorium of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries in which the mayor was as the chief guest. Presided over by the council convenor Ibrahim Hossain, the discussion was addressed, among others, by lawyers Rabiul Haq Kakor, Nurul Islam Sarker, Layeb Uddin and Nasrin Akhtar Mita.
