Under-trial NBCP man dies at KMCH prison cell
An under-trial prisoner died while under treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) prison cell on Saturday midnight.
The deceased Shahidul Sheikh, 34, son of Shafiuddin Sheikh of Katianangla village under Batiaghata upazila of the district, was an armed cadre of outlawed New Biplobi Communist Party (NBCP).
Shafiuddin alleged that his son had succumbed to severe injuries caused earlier due to physical torture by law enforcers during interrogation.
Superintendent of Khulna district Jail Md Shah Alam Khan denied the allegation saying that Shahidul had died from severe respiratory problems. He was sick at the time of landing in the jail and later referred to KMCH as advised by the jail doctor.
