Last wishes of Prof. Kabir Chowdhury
This is about the last wishes of Professor Kabir Chowdhury who died on 13 December 2011, just a day before the 40th Martyred Intellectuals' Day. We lost an icon of anti-communalism. He was like a mentor of the conscious people of the country.
However, we heard that he wanted to be buried promptly after his death and that his namaz-e-janaza should be held in the nearest mosque and there should be only one namaz-e-janaza. He also wanted to be buried in a public graveyard where another deceased could find his last resting place over his remains. He discouraged holding any memorial meeting or chehlum, etc.
This should be a lesson for us that a huge burial ceremony does not increase anybody's honour.
