30 youths held for 'plotting'
Detectives yesterday picked up 30 youths from a coaching centre at Farmgate in the city on charge of allegedly plotting subversive activities.
Masudur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said a team from the Detective Branch (DB) of police (north) raided Retina Coaching Centre around 11:00am and detained the youths.
The detectives had information that some Islami Chhatra Shibir activists gathered there for plotting a subversive act in the capital, he said. “We are interrogating the arrestees to be sure about the plotting,” he added.
DB (north) Deputy Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman, whose team picked up the 30 youths, could not be reached for a comment on the matter.
Asked about the identity of the arrestees, the DB did not provide the information.
