NDC's capstone course begins

Two weeks long Capstone Course-(3), 2012 of National Defence College (NDC) began at Mirpur cantonment in the city yesterday. Defence Adviser to the Prime Minister Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique inaugurated the course as chief guest at NDC auditorium, said an ISPR release. A total of 27 persons are taking part in the course. They are seven lawmakers, two senior judges, two secretaries, four business personalities, two chief editors, one senior lawyer, two top NGO representatives, one senior doctor, one chief engineer, one senior police officer and four senior members of the armed forces. The main objective of the course is to provide a cursory knowledge on national security and development. Other objectives of the course are: to help higher level management understand the constitutional responsibilities in safeguarding core national interests of the country, to help participants develop their understanding of the complex and multifaceted nature of national security. Some other objects are to examine security trends and challenges within the country, region and study problems of security co-operation between different stakeholders and to help the higher level management understand development strategies. Impediments and preconditions for sustainable development in the context of Bangladesh and to promote mutual understanding and confidence amongst policy planners and other members of the community, including media to generate synergy in collective accomplishments are among others objectives of the course. Chief of Naval Staff and chief of Air Staff, principal staff officer of Armed forces division, high level military and civil officers and many prominent personalities of the society were also present at the function.
