'End war crimes trial by 2012'

Speakers at a human chain programme on Rajshahi University (RU) campus yesterday urged the government to accomplish the trial of war criminals by this year. With the slogan “The promise of new year to be trial of war criminals”, the RU unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) organised the programme in front of the university central library around 1:00pm. Demanding speedy trial of the war criminals, speakers said leaders of Jamaat and their accomplices including al-Badar, al-Shams and Rajakars were engaged in mass murders, rape and arson during the War of Liberation in 1971. Since the trial process started, Khaleda Zia has taken the side of the anti-liberation forces, they said criticising the role of BNP on the matter. RU Teachers' Association former general secretary Prof Ananda Kumar Saha, Ziaur Rahman Hall Provost Prof Rezaul Karim and RU unit BCL President Ahmed Ali and General Secretary Abu Hossain Bipu also spoke.
