Three kilns fined in Bandarban
Three brick kilns were fined Tk 1.40 lakh in a drive at Naikkhonchhari upazila of Bandarban district yesterday.
A joint team comprising officials of the Department of Environment (DoE), Chittagong and the local administration conducted the drive.
The kilns were fined on charge of operating the kilns using the banned technology of drum chimneys that emit huge amount of black smoke, says a press release.
The team fined M/s Z R C Bricks Tk 40,000, M/s Five Star Bricks Tk 50,000 and M F G Bricks Tk 50,000.
The team also directed the owners to stop the kiln activities and to appear in the DoE, Chittagong office on January 9.
