'War crimes trial should be more organised'
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam yesterday said if the war crimes trial was carried out in a more organised manner, trial of several war criminals would have been completed by now.
The attorney general was addressing a commemorative discussion on National Professor Kabir Chowdhury who died last December 13.
Human Rights International, Bangladesh organised the event at the Supreme Court auditorium in the city yesterday with Dr Mohammad Selim of the organisation in the chair.
Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim said Jamaat-e-Islami does not have any right to be in the country.
“The Pakistani army chief cannot just come to this country, go to the cantonment and open a local office of Pakistani army. Nobody would allow that,” he said.
“So, their auxiliary force Jamaat has no right to operate in this country.”
Executive president of Ekhatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir, Additional Attorney General MK Rahman and Advocate Amirul Islam also spoke.
