Chehlum
Chehlam of Abdur Rauf, former whip, will be held at the Liberation Square of Bakdokra village under Domar upazila in Nilphamari today. Relatives, friends, admirers and well-wishers of the former lawmaker of Awami League have been requested to attend the doa mahfil at 11:00am. Abdur Rauf was a member of the government committee that wrote constitution of Bangladesh in 1972, had been suffering from liver cancer before he passed away in Dhaka on November 29 at the age of 69. He was laid to rest at the family graveyard at his village home in Bakdokra. He was the president of East Pakistan Chhatra League and a student leader during the mass upsurge in 1969. He fought valiantly under the Sector No-6 during the War of Liberation. He was elected as a member of parliament three times from Domar-Dimla constituency.
