Elephant kills girl
A teenage girl was killed by an Indian elephant at Pathanpara village near Banglabandha border in Tentulia, Panchagarh yesterday morning.
The victim is Ruma Akhter, 17, daughter of Rafiqul Islam of the village.
Tentulia police said Ruma along with her younger brother Rabiul Islam and sister Rupali Akhter, 15, were going to a nearby field to graze their goats. Due to dense fog, they could not see the elephant. It attacked Ruma and killed her on the spot, as she failed to escape along with Rabiul and Rupali.
Hearing scream of the victim, locals chased the elephant and confined it inside a sugarcane field.
