New CU rules to recruit teachers
The syndicate of Chittagong University (CU) yesterday approved new rules in its teachers' recruitment criteria.
The syndicate meeting approved the minimum requirement in Honours and Masters degree result as GPA 3.60 and 3.70 (on a scale of GPA 4.00) respectively for applicants in a teaching post in the Faculties of Science, Biological Science, Business Administration and Law.
CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Anwarul Azim Arif chaired the meeting.
As per the new rule, a teaching applicant in the Faculty of Social Science should have minimum GPA 3.50 and GPA 3.65 in his or her Honours and Masters degree, said the syndicate sources.
GPA 3.30 in both Honours and Masters will be the minimum requirement for teaching applicants in subjects including Bangla, English, fine arts and dramatics under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities while GPA 3.50 will be required to apply in rest of the subjects under the faculty.
Mentionable, earlier the university authorities sought GPA 3.00 as the minimum requirement for an applicant at all levels of his/her academic career.
GPA 3.00 in both SSC and HSC, considered as the minimum requirement earlier, will remain unchanged, said the sources.
