Two BCL men hurt in attack
Two Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists of Chittagong University (CU) unit were injured in an attack allegedly launched by a rival group of the party on the campus yesterday.
The injured are Abdul Malek, a third year student of Sociology Department and Sajedur Rahman, a second year student of Economics Department.
Police, quoting the victims, said a group of seven to eight BCL workers led by Mohammad Mansur, a third year student of Economics Department, beat the two with sticks near Social Science Faculty at around 1:00pm.
The incident might have happened following previous enmity, said police inspector Mizanur Rahman (in-charge) of university police outpost.
CU BCL general secretary MA Khaled Chowdhury termed the incident a misunderstanding among the friends.
CU Proctor Mohammad Nasim Hasan said that stern actions would be taken against the attackers.
