Couple succumb to burn injuries
A couple who were severely burned in a cooking gas cylinder explosion in Jaikathee area of Patuakhali town on December 25 succumbed to their injuries two hours apart in the capital's City Hospital early yesterday.
The deceased are Mamun Mridha, 30, and Sumi Akhter, 25. Their two-year-old daughter, Afsim, who was scorched in the explosion, is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The cylinder exploded while Sumi was cooking in the kitchen around 11:00am, engulfing her in flames. Mamun got burnt as he tried to douse the flames on her, said family sources.
