Road crashes kill 4, injure 16
Four people were killed and 16 others injured in separate road accidents in Khulna, Feni and Narail early Saturday and yesterday.
Staff correspondent from Khulna reports: Three motorcycle riders were killed when a tank lorry rammed their bike on Khulna-Satkhira Highway at Mesaghona in Dumuria upazila at about 11:30am yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Sammilon Biswas, 40, Rudro Biswas, 60, and his wife Ranjita Biswas, 50.
Ranjita succumbed to her injuries while on the way to Dumuria Health Complex.
Police seized the tank lorry while its driver managed to escape.
Angry people blocked the highway for one hour protesting the accident.
Our Feni correspondent says: General secretary of Sonagazi Municipality unit Chhatra League Abdul Hannan alias Rocky, 24, son of former Sonagazi UP chairman Abdul Mannan, was killed and another injured when a Bhutbhuti (three-wheeler) collided head-on with his motorbike on Sonagazi-Feni road in Motiganj bus stand area on Saturday night.
Injured Sakhawat Hossain Moni, 24, was undergoing treatment at Feni Sadar hospital.
In Narail, at least 15 people were seriously injured as a bus fell into a ditch beside Narail-Magura highway at Kagozipara village in the sadar upazila at around 11:30am yesterday.
Of the injured, Md Daud Ali, of Jhikargachha upazila, Abdul Hamid, Moshiar Rahman, Mohammad Ali, of Monirampur upazila in Jessore and Amirul Islam of Jhenidah were admitted to Narail Sadar Hospital.
