Three killed, one injured in road accidents
Three people were killed and another one injured in road accidents in Gazipur, Manikganj, and Rajshahi yesterday.
UNB from Gazipur reports: Two motorcyclists were killed when a bus hit their motorbike at Majukhan Bazaar in the sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Alamgir Hossain, 27, son of Abdul Karim, and Sohel, 22, son of Milu Hossain, of Kamargaon village of the upazila.
Police said the bus hit the motorbike at about 1:00pm, leaving the two riders killed on the spot and injuring another co-rider Suzon. The injured was taken to Tongi government hospital.
Police seized the bus but could not arrest anyone as the driver fled.
Our Manikganj Correspondent says: A school student was killed in a road accident at Falsatia on Dhaka Aricha highway in Shivalaya upazila yesterday.
The victim was identified as Jisan, student of class-II at Falsatia Government Primary School.
Police sources said the accident occurred at around 12:00pm when a Dhaka bound bus of Padma Paribahan coming from Paturia ran over the student when he was crossing the road.
The body was sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Our RU correspondent adds: A student of Rajshahi University had his leg broken and suffered wounds on different parts of the body as a speeding private car hit him on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway yesterday.
The accident sparked protest among the university students. For half an hour, they blocked the highway and demanded immediate arrest of the car driver and compensation for the injured, Md Shahjalal, a second year student of the sociology department.
Shahjalal was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
The agitating students lifted the blockade after RU proctor Prof Chowdhury Muhammad Zakaria along with law enforcers reached the scene.
The proctor said the university authorities urged the law enforcers to arrest the driver and have taken the responsibility for the treatment of the injured student.
