Six establishments gutted
A fire destroyed five shops, four processing lumber and one producing plastic materials, and a house, causing around Tk 40 lakh worth damage, at Avoy Mitra Ghat area in Firingi Bazar in Chittagong city early yesterday.
One firefighter, Jahangir Alam, from Nandan Kanan Fire Service, was injured while fighting the blaze, originating from an electric short circuit around 2:25am, and was provided first aid, said fire service sources.
Twelve fire fighting units from Agrabad, Nandan Kanan, Bandar and Chandanpura fire service stations doused the flames around 5:20am, added the sources.
