Four killed in road crashes

Four people were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in Satkhira, Narail, Natore and Panchagarh early Thursday and yesterday. Our Satkhira correspondent reports: Rafiqul Islam, 26, son of Sirajul Islam of village Bazargram in Kaliganj upazila, was killed and another injured when two engine-run vans collided head-on on Satkhira-Kaliganj road near Sadpur Madrasa in the upazila on Thursday night. Injured Hafizur Rahman, 26, son of Golam Biswas of village Bharashimla in the upazila, was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital. In Narail, a primary school headmaster Kader Biswas, 35, of Morlickpur village in Lohagara upazila, was inured severely as a Nosiman (three-wheeler) hit his motorbike on Digholia Bazar road in the upazila at around 3:30pm on Thursday. He died on the way to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH). In Natore, schoolboy Mohammad Mithu, 16, son of Kajem Ali of Gurudaspur upazila, was killed and another injured as a truck rammed their bicycle from behind in collage road area in the upazila on Thursday night. Injured Shakil Hossain was rushed to Rajshahi Medical Collage Hospital. Our Thakurgaon correspondent says: A passenger bus collided with a microbus and a motorbike on Panchagarh-Dhaka highway at Nazirpara in Boda upazila of Panchagarh yesterday afternoon, killing the motorcyclist on the spot and injuring two others. The deceased is Oliar Rahman Lion, 30. Injured Azijul Islam, the bike rider, and Joynal Abedin, the microbus driver, were taken to Boda Upazila Health Complex. Later, Azijul was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. In Jhenidah, a truck collided with a bus on Khulna-Kushtia highway at Bardah bridge in Shoilakupa upazila early hours of yesterday, leaving transport movement suspended for seven hours and causing untold sufferings to the passengers. None was killed or injured in the accident, said police.
