One arrested for killing
Police arrested a youth in connection with the killing of an employee of a jewellery shop in the city's Dakkhin Khan during a robbery early February 13.
The arrested person is Md Manik Miah, 35.
Officer-in-Charge of Dakkhin Khan Police Station Lokman Hakim said they arrested Manik from his village home at Jogarpar upazila of Netrakona Thursday night.
Based on his information, around 13 tolas of looted gold were also recovered from his house by digging floor the next day.
Manik along with two armed robbers entered Gold King Jewellers at Halim Market at Azampur of the area and strangulated Ujjal Chandra, 25, to death. They looted gold ornaments weighing around 37 tolas from the shop. Police recovered the body next morning.
Ujjal used to stay in the shop at night locking the shutters from inside.
