Green varsity convocation held

The first convocation of Green University of Bangladesh was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city on February 16, says a press release. President Zillur Rahman, also chancellor of the university, conferred degrees on around 585 graduates in the convocation. Three students received gold medals of the chancellor and one was awarded a gold medal of the vice chancellor. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, who presided over the convocation, urged the university authorities not to limit education to only a process of certificate giving but to provide real education to produce good human beings. Professor Emeritus of Dhaka University Dr Serajul Islam Chowdhury delivered the convocation speech. He said private universities are fulfilling the increasing demand of society for higher education. As seats in public universities are very limited, many students get frustrated. In this case, private universities provide them with the opportunity for higher education. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Anwarullah Chowdhury and Chairman of Trustee Board Mohammed Abdullah Al Mamun also spoke on the occasion.
