Dr Zoha's anniversary of death observed
The Rajshahi University authorities observed the 43rd death anniversary of Dr Shamsuzzoha, said to be the first martyred intellectual of Bangladesh, on the campus yesterday.
Programmes marking the occasion included hoisting black flags, placing wreaths at the grave of Dr Zoha, holding milad mahfils, and offering special prayers at RU Central Mosque.
A discussion styled "Zoha Memorial Lecture" was also held. Noted author Selina Hossain was the key speaker.
Dr Shamsuzzoha, chemistry professor and also proctor of the university, had to embrace martyrdom for his protest against army firing on students.
