6 schoolboys held on charge of stealing
Police yesterday detained six schoolboys at different places of the port city on charge of theft at a house in Deb Pahar area under Kotwali Police Station on February 16.
Aged between 15-20, they study in different schools of Chittagong city.
Police also recovered 13 tolas of gold ornaments, five wristwatches, a laptop, a visa card, and Tk 52.22 in cash from the detained boys.
Police said they stole the valuables worth Tk 23 lakh and the cash around 11:00pm on February 16 from the rented house of Dr SM Shamsul Alam in absence of his family members.
A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station in this connection on February 17.
Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Abdullah Al Mahmud said the neighbours of Dr Shamsul know one of the boys.
They had a master key through which any lock can be opened, he said. During interrogation, all of the boys confessed to their involvement in the stealing, he added
The boys kept the stolen valuables in their houses, the AC said.
