Four shops gutted in two fires
Four shops were gutted by fire in two separate incidents in the port city early hours of yesterday.
Losses were estimated at Tk 6 lakh.
Fire service sources said a fire broke out at an electronic goods shop at Chowmuhani intersection in Agrabad around 2:20am, damaging valuables worth Tk 3 lakh.
The fire, originated from an electric short circuit, was doused by Agrabad fire fighters after half-an-hour's efforts.
Another fire occurred at a satellite cable agent's office in Saraipara area around 4:45am. The fire spread fast to an adjoining grocery and tailor's shop.
The damages were estimated at Tk 3 lakh. Fire fighters doused the flame after half-an-hour's efforts.
